I am blessed to bring to you a new album
entitled "AWAKE O ISRAEL", by Elana Watson. The name Watson is no
stranger to the Messianic Movement. Perhaps you have heard of Elana’s parents, Merv
and Merla Watson. Their songs are well-known, and have been sung around the world for many
years. They have written and produced scores of popular Messianic songs, and their
songwriting has become synonymous with their love for the Lord.
Elana brings a new style of Messianic music to be shared and
loved by one and all. You might say that she is the "next generation" of this
talented musical family. Her obvious jazz/pop influence is evident in the delivery of
these refreshing songs. Most all songs on this release are composed by Elana’s mom,
Merla. Elana’s strong, lyrical voice carries each song to a new dimensional sound. I
am confident when I say that "AWAKE O ISRAEL" has put Elana on the map of
the ever-increasing Messianic music business. Renowned Israeli Messianic music producer,
Dov Zeira, produced this release in Israel. Dov has developed a brisk, in-demand Messianic
recording business under the Hataklit Israel Music label, and has hit the mark by
producing this release.
When you get this CD release, you will notice the great
diversity of song types, from the ‘get up and dance to the Lord’ style, to the
‘holy of holies’ worshipful musical offerings. This release is so unique, I will

I have centered in on three song pick samples for you which I
know will exemplify the release’s uniqueness.
The first song pick is entitled, "AWAKE O ISRAEL".
This song has got to be one of the most well-known songs written by Merv and Merla
Watson. I happens to be one of my favorites, as well. Elana brings this song, written in
1974, up to date with her jazz-folk style of delivery. This song, based upon scripture
found in the book of Isaiah, has special meaning to me, as I would sing this song back
when I first became a believer. Although the years have passed, "AWAKE O
ISRAEL" has become one of my all-time favorites. See what you think.
The second song entitled, "HAFACHTA MISP’DI"
(Mourning to Joy), brings such joy to my heart. I found myself wanting to play this song
over and over again. Taken from Psalm 30:11& 12, Elana has captured the joy that the
Lord has meant for each of us. "Joy unbounded" is what you will feel after
listening to this one.
The third and final song sample is entitled "THIS IS
THE GENERATION". Based upon Psalm 42:8, this song is simple, driven by
Elana’s heart and her obvious zeal for Messiah. Although there are few words to this
song, you just can’t help to catch the excitement of its encouraging words. ’This
is the generation of them that seek His face,’ says it all and is relevant to
each and every one of us. Great song!
Much of the time, offspring of famous people are faced with
establishing their own identity, however after you listen to this wonderful CD release,
you will see why I say that Elana has mastered this refreshing and unique musical style.
