| This month’s review features
Billy Whitman’s ‘Hallelujah B’Yeshua,’ available on both
Cassette and CD. Billy’s release is comprised mostly of original
songs, along with some traditional Jewish songs. Billy has a rich
folk-style voice, along with lyrics that clearly displays his love for
The Lord.
The title song of the release, ‘Hallelujah
B’Yeshua,’ is one of my picks to be featured as an audio sample.
A simple melody and lyrical theme of this song brings adoration to our
Lord Yeshua. It has left my entire family singing this catchy offering
of praise. The song features acoustic guitar along with a definite
Messianic flavor of mandolin.
Based on the traditionally Jewish Shma
Yisrael, ‘Shma’ is my second audio sample pick. This
recording brings one of the holiest of scriptures into a modern
folk-like style, keeping with the simplistic theme of the entire album.
What a great musical concept!
The rest of the album is filled with a
wonderful collection of very diverse songstyles. ‘He Is Coming Back
Again,’ has definite Reggae overtones. It is a great expression of
the return of our Lord, Yeshua.
One of the most beautiful songs that I’ve
heard in recent years, is Billy’s song, ‘God of Israel.’ This
song of exaltation to Yeshua will bring anyone into His presence, one
very important prerequisite of a true and meaningful song unto The Lord.
I recommend the purchase of Billy’s ‘Hallelujah
B’Yeshua’ with the greatest respect, and look forward to hearing
more from this talented artist. Sing more tunes Billy!
Biographical
Information
Billy was born and raised in Miami,
Florida. Being raised in a traditional Jewish home, he drifted away from
Judaism after his Bar-Mitzvah, and began his spiritual search of truth.
He tested the validity of Eastern philosophies, Yoga, and
experimentation with the drug culture. He made a living as a
professional musician after coming home from college. During this time,
he put to test the claims of Yeshua as Messiah. Earlier in his years, he
had been told that he needed to trust in Yeshua (Jesus) as his personal
Savior, the Messiah of Israel.
A personal friend told Billy that he needed to
search out the truth, and Billy prayed that if Yeshua was real, He would
reveal it to him in the T’nach (Hebrew scriptures). After nine months
of study, which included the well-known 53rd chapter of
Isaiah, and how the prophecies were fulfilled in the New Covenant, Billy
came to full faith in Yeshua.
He now enjoys the fact that he has been set
free from the bondages of sin and death. Billy now has the assurance of
knowing that his name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Billy is also involved in reminding the
Christian community about the roots of our faith through a ministry
called Oseh Shalom. Through this ministry, Billy and others offer
concerts, teaching seminars, and ministry with worship services. Along
with Jewish evangelism, Billy is committed to turning the Christian’s
heart more towards Israel. |
