If Messianic Believers were asked who they thought
the most prolific Messianic music artist has been the last 30 years,
it is clear what they would say. Well-known singer and songwriter Joel
Chernoff has spanned decades of powerful praise and worship. Appealing
to all ages, his anointed talent has captivated Believers worldwide.
On his new release, Come Dance With Me, Chernoff has collaborated with
worldwide distributor Provident Music and Messianic music label
Galilee of the Nations. This will no doubt be a powerful Messianic
message to the world.
I became drawn to this wonderful collection of Chernoff's latest
skillfully written songs, woven along with nostalgic recants from his
former years singing with the group, Lamb. "Sing Hallelujah"
and "The Sacrifice Lamb," will take you back with the
special touch that keeps Chernoff's music as fresh as the morning dew.
In fact, he continues to provide us with that driving Chernoff
signature, as exemplified in "When You Rise Up," and one of
my favorites, "Not By Might."
Chernoff features his 19-year-old daughter, Sharon, in the powerful
duet, "Fall On Me." Sharon's rich vocal style shows that
Chernoff's talent didn't stop with his generation. A special blessing
is on father and daughter when they unite to sing this heartfelt song.
As if this were not enough to bring holy goose bumps, Chernoff then
brings forth one of the most anointed, worshipful songs to come along
in years, entitled "Come Dance With Me." This powerful yearn
for Yeshua will leave you lifting Holy hands.
My wife, Shirley, and I often collaborate on the reviews that I do,
and we agree that this CD gets two Shofars up.

BIOGRAPHY
OF
Joel
Chernoff
Joel was brought up in what was at the time only one of a tiny
number of Messianic households. He considered himself a “Believer”.
But it wasn’t until the late 60’s revival, known as the Jesus
Movement, that Joel had a truly life-changing encounter with his
Messiah, while he was a student at the University of Cincinnati.
Joel had been raised on Top 40 music and at the age of 16 he discovered
that he had a gift for writing songs. He played keyboards in a five-man
band that became popular at churches, youth rallies and other community
events throughout his teens. In 1972 Joel formed the group Lamb. Lamb,
whose music soon came to be known as simply Messianic Music, quickly
became one of the premier groups of the new movement that was sweeping
the country. Recording on national labels, as well as their own
independent imprint, Lamb recorded a total of 14 albums over two
decades. With Lamb’s break-up in 1992, Joel focused his energies into
several prominent organizations within the Messianic Jewish movement.
Joel currently serves as the General Secretary of the Messianic Jewish
Alliance of America (MJAA) and the president of the International
Messianic Jewish Alliance (IMJA). |
