This month, I have decided to review a very
special group of songs, written by Elisheva Shomron. During this fall Feast of Trumpets, I
felt to offering this wonderful grouping of songs based upon scriptures, in the language
of the land of Israel. "As the Dew to
Israel", displays Elishevas obvious vast talent of songwriting. She uses
scriptures in each song, and sets the meaning of the scriptures with her melodies, and
emotion filled arrangements. This album has several other people singing as well as
Elisheva, and although this is unusual, the album almost lends itself to allow various
singers. Each song has a distinct character, and each singer brings out the fullness of
the song.
My first pick for a music sample is "Fear Not O Land".
Taken from the Book of Joel, this song tells of how the Lord will make up to Israel for
the years of locust eating the land. He will bring the rain, and the land will flow once
again with plenty to eat. It proclaims to rejoice and be glad in the Lord. This is
probably my favorite on the album.
The second pick is the last song on the album, called
"Eternal Covenant". Richly based upon scriptures found in Jeremiah, this song
tells of the days that will come, where the Lord will make a new covenant with Israel. We
all know what that covenant was foretelling. There is nothing impossible for The Lord, and
this song sings this loudly.
The album comes with a complete English translation, along with
the melody and chord score of each song. I highly recommend this special album for your
collection. Elishevas next album is due to be in the United States soon. We will all
be looking forward to it!
