Miriam Givoni was born to Jewish parents who taught her to know and love the Lord Yeshua from a young age. When she was 4 years old the family immigrated to Israel and settled in Nahariya, at the time a small coastal town almost as north as the Lebanese border. Miriam can remember committing herself to the Lord at early childhood, but it was only when she was 14 years of age that she wished to be baptized and become a true disciple of the Messiah. Growing up in a remote town, in the years when believers in Israel were few and far between, meant not meeting friends of the same age who know the Lord, except for school holidays and rare occasions. Still, the Lord was faithful to sustain her through the small body of believers in Nahariya, through correspondence, and through the stand of her parents for the Lord. The Lord further showed His faithfulness and steadfast love during her years of service in the IDF. Miriam can relate well to the testimony of her younger brother ( Michael Nissim, “Ronu Shamaim” featured on this site). It was the Word of God that sustained her then.
Music was always an important part in her parents’ home; Dad would always play classical music and old time hymns, and Mom would always sing the harmonies and teach the words. Not yet knowing sufficient Hebrew to learn much in kindergarten, Miriam can only remember being captivated by the beauty and longing conveyed in a Hebrew song she learned, written in the minor scale. At the age of 10 her parents finally had enough to get her the long awaited piano, and mom took on extra work to fund her piano lessons. Miriam continued to pursue her love for music in various frameworks over the years.
In 1988 Miriam produced a short cassette of original Hebrew worship songs for children, the first of its kind in Israel. (Starring in the production was her younger brother, Michael, 12 years old at the time.) Though very amateur, it was very warmly received and loved by many a family, and Miriam hopes to re-produce it soon along with new original songs. The burden of writing original worship songs for Israeli children remained a pressing need over the years, as the number of such productions can be counted on less than two hands. Finally, after years of praying, saving and dreaming, the door opened for her to produce the CD “This Same Yeshua”. Miriam hopes that this CD would encourage families to worship the Lord together, as some of her fondest memories are of the young voices of her children joining hers in song to the Lord.
The song “This Same Yeshua” was written in response to the movement in the land pointing to a false messiah. It is presented to the upcoming generation of children in this land, to encourage them to rise up boldly and declare the uncompromising message of Acts to their lost generation – “This Same Yeshua”!
The album is dedicated to the precious memory of her loving father, Albert Nissim, who left this world before the production was completed.
