This month, I am blessed
to review Chuck King’s release, "Psalm of Ascent". This
release is a group of Chuck’s original songs, set to Psalm verses. As
soon as I received this release from him, I began to listen to the
album, and was immediately drawn to his anointed songwriting and musical
abilities. He seemed to capture the very heart of each Psalm put to
music, and left me singing the praises of The Lord. The Psalms are one
of my favorite parts of the Bible, and as King David did, Chuck has
taken the verses and brought them to life in his music. What beauty to
hear the Psalms in song! Chuck’s expert musical abilities are well
used through the collection of songs, and I can honestly say that the
production of this release is second to none. The arrangements are well
written, and the true purpose of each song is easily revealed.
My first pick for the sound sample is a song
entitled "Pray for The Peace of Jerusalem",
co-written by Chuck King and Jill Justice. This song, based on Psalm
122, exemplifies what every believer should be doing by praying for the
peace of Jerusalem. It reminds us all that we are to love Israel, stand
by her, and pray for peace to be upon her. It is so important that the
Christian body remembers it’s roots, and it’s association with
Israel. You will absolutely love this song!
My second pick for sound sampling this month,
is the song entitled, "Those Who Trust", based
on Psalm 125. What a great Psalm to put to music! "Those who
put their trust in the Lord, are like Mount Zion. As the mountains
surround Jerusalem, So the Lord will surround His People."
What a song of encouragement for both Jewish and Gentile believers! We
need to put our trust in the Lord! This Messianic style song contains
both English and Hebrew verses, and will leave you singing!
I recommend this release as a must for all
believers, both Jewish and Gentile. What a great gift for others as well
for the upcoming holiday season! Great album, Chuck!
