| It is a true blessing to introduce to you a
wonderful debut CD, “I
Thirst For God", a
collection of original anointed Messianic songs by singer/songwriter,
Evelyn Jackson. Evelyn contacted us about this original work that
stretched Messianic music into a new dimension. I listened, and found
this CD to be very refreshing. Its production is basic and solid. I was
immediately drawn to Evelyn’s diverse talent, both in performance and
songwriting.
This CD not only makes use of the typical Messianic
style, but also delves into Messianic music al a contemporary. Evelyn’s
upbeat, joyful songwriting is very evident in her first recorded
offering to the Lord. From the soulful ballad, to the rhythmic driving
beat that will get your feet tapping and hands clapping, “I
Thirst For God” will make a welcomed
addition to your Messianic Music collection.
I
have chosen a few songs to sample for you to listen to. I know you will
enjoy listening as I did.
The first song sample is entitled “Yeshua Adonai”. This song was
co-written by Evelyn and Ralph Finley. Every knee shall bow, every tongue
confess, Yeshua Ha Mashiach Adonai. What more could be
said? The proclamation that Yeshua is Lord put to a catchy,
hand-clapping rhythm will bring you to your feet, wanting to dance
before the Lord. It’s just one of those songs. There is a good cover
by husband and singer Keith in this and other songs on the CD. My wife
Shirley and I are a ministry team in music. I can tell you that when a
husband and wife share in music ministry, the Lord places His anointing
upon the praises and worship lifted up to Him. I pray that Evelyn and
Keith continue as a team, and that their tents may be enlarged in this
area.
The second song sample entitled “In Messiah”, displays the tender side of Evelyn’s
diverse songwriting skills. Based upon Romans 11,
Evelyn has woven this wonderful Bible verse with a
beautiful melody, creating a song that is sure to leave you with holy
goose bumps.
The third song sample that I have chosen is written by Evelyn
and husband Keith. “Israel Shall Be Saved”, also inspired by Romans 11, will leave you so glad that you know Yeshua!
What a faith-building song! This one is one of my favorites on the CD.
I must say, after listening to “I Thirst For God”
I have been left waiting for the next CD. Soon Evelyn, Please! Todah!
Biography
Evelyn is a 31 accountant. She lives in Washington, DC with
her husband Keith and their three daughters, Autumn (8), Summer (5), and
Winter (4). She was brought up in the Baptist church by two believing
non-Jewish parents.
Evelyn became a believer in 1995, along with her husband.
Evelyn’s recent discovery that she is of Jewish decent has given new
dimension to her music and ministry. Her biological mother, who did not
raise her, was born of two Jewish parents. The call for Evelyn to return
to her Jewish roots has taken on a deeper meaning. . All the members of Instruments of Righteousness make up Klezmer Soul. They will be working on their first klezmer CD very soon. Lawrence is 17 years old and a graduating senior at Ets Chaym High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He plays guitar and bass for Instruments of Righteousness and Klezmer Soul. Tom is 41 years old and is a graduate of John Hopkins University Medical School. Tom is the group’s drummer. Before Evelyn became a
believer, she wrote and produced secular music. When she came to faith
in Messiah, she gave away all of her music equipment and did not write
or sing for years. She and her husband became involved with a Bible
study group that was teaching from the book of Revelation. It was in
that study where they felt a strong call to return to their biblical
Jewish roots. Soon after that they became members of Ahavat Yeshua
Congregation in Washington DC. After about 6 months of fellowship at
this congregation, God began to move upon Evelyn in a powerful way. He
opened up the floodgates and began to fill her with songs to
overflowing. She is currently a part of the worship team at Ahavat
Yeshua where she sings, plays piano, and writes some of the songs for
praise & worship. She is also the lead singer and pianist for
Klezmer Soul.
